TEMPERING /BYPASS OF ELECTRICITY METER

MODIMOLLE –MOOKGOPHONG LOCAL MUNICIPALITY hereby appeal to the community members to refrain or stop the tempering or bypassing of electricity meter. An electricity meter tempering or bypassing is when you make the meter either stop functioning ,under register or even stop registering how much electricity your house /business consumes . Once a meter is bypassed it stops operating normally meaning that if there is an electrical fault inside the premises, it will not pick up and the electricity supply will stay on without tripping and this can result in electrocution or fire. Electricity tempering is only dangerous but is a criminal offence. If tempering is discovered within a home, a tampering fee of R15 000 will be charged together with the reconnection fee of R1, 027, 71. If tempering by commercial and industrial customers is discovered, the tempering fee of R100, 000, 00 will be charged with the reconnection fee of R1500, 00. NB: Please report the tempering and bypass of the electricity to the Call Centre at 014 or to 014 718 2004. Issued by Communications
