On 18 March 2020, Dr Nkosozana Dlamini Zuma, the Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs designated under Section 3 of the Disaster Management Act 2002 (Act 57 of 2002) declared a national state of disaster, published in Government Gazette No 43096 of 15 March 2020, in terms of Section 27(2) of the Act, after consulting the relevant cabinet members and hereby make Regulations set out in the schedule hereto regarding the steps necessary to prevent an escalation of the disaster or to alleviate, contain and minimise the effect of the disaster.
On 15 March 2020, President Cyril Ramaphosa outlined to the nation the measures to combat the Corona Virus COVID – 19 pandemic.
This notice is a reminder to all residents and business people of Modimolle Mookgophong Local Municipality that
Gatherings of more than 50 people are prohibited
Movement is restricted
A permit should be presented to authorities when requested
Only essential services are operational
Garages are classified as essential operations
Business hours for grocery (including Spaza) shops will be limited to 17h00
All other shops are closed
Restaurants and food outlets are to remain closed
The trading of liquor is also restricted
Any traders found to transgressing the Presidential and Ministerial Directives will be prosecuted by the authorities.
